GFD develops and produces diamond-based products and has established itself as the world’s leading supplier of diamond microtechnology. Our products impress with their outstanding properties in the fields of medical technology, pharmaceuticals, material processing and semiconductor technology.<\/p>\n\n

All our products are manufactured in Germany. Using the chemical vapor deposition (CVD) process<\/nobr><\/strong>, we can coat our blades, tools, balls and scalpels with diamond on site. The big advantage here is that we can coat components up to an edge length of 500 mm ourselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Diamaze PSD (Plasma Sharpened Diamond) cutting edges<\/strong> consist of a carbide cutting edge coated with diamond. The thickness of the diamond layer can vary between 5-25 \u00b5m<\/nobr>. Due to the diamond coating, the service life of the blades can generally be significantly increased.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The plasma sharpening process developed at GFD now allows the sharpness of the cutting edge to be significantly increased retrospectively. This makes it possible to achieve a significant increase in service life in combination with optimized sharpness<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Why diamond<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Diamond has a unique combination of outstanding material properties<\/a>. It is extremely hard, yet light, wear-resistant, chemically inert, electrically non-conductive and has a particularly low coefficient of friction. This makes diamond ideal for the most demanding mechanical applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How plasma-sharpened diamond is created<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The production of plasma-sharpened diamond is based on two innovative processes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. First, a nanocrystalline diamond coating is applied to a carbide substrate. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. This ultra-thin layer of pure diamond is then polished in a plasma sharpening process. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
